PREP Scholars work as lab technicians with a faculty Mentor who leads an active research program in the Division of Biological Sciences.  While the research projects are frequently basic in nature, Scholars are encouraged to pursue research in areas that address health problems which disproportionately affect minorities and the medically underserved people of this country.  These fields include, but are not restricted to respiratory diseases, cancer, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, substance abuse and infectious diseases. Approximately 70% of the time will be spent in the lab, and the rest will be filled with program activities.

Research descriptions of most potential PREP Mentors can be found on the Biological Sciences Division website,
